Whether multi hit is on or off ;) if think it it would me more realistic if you could double push zombies if you are stroger or it should at least be easier with double handed weapons. Multi hit I feel is a crutch setting. Guns are the only real multi hit weapons. I think some weapons should not have multi hit like an axe, if you hit a zed with ...Spear type weapons (spears, garden forks, ect) have a chance to 1 hit very reliably, even with no skill. Don’t know if it works for multi hit, but spear type is the only weapon category with a forward facing instakill animation, while other weapons CAN 1 hit only the spear type and knives have special instakill animations.

Knowing how to adjust your position among the zombies makes possible to fight 6~8 zombies at the same time if you are using blades, spears or axes. Blunt weapons is possible too but with less zombies. Idk I like multi hit but I'm pretty casual at zomboid.
Multi hit is too boring. Combat is all about spacing and timing, and finding the right rythm for these two things. Also, even a few zombies mean quite the threat for a long while untill you level up a weapon skill. With multi hit on, the game turns into a hack and slash borefest, where even larger groups are easy to deal with from the get go. Either way, you should be good with the Stone Axe for a few use cases, with good things such as the below being a plus. Craftable – Can make it anytime when you have the items needed. Multi-hit – Can hit 2 zombies at most on a single swing. Lightness – Allows you to carry or hold it without sacrificing that much carry weight.I like multi-hit because it encourages you to try standing your ground more and not always relying on kiting every zombie you see allowing a different experience. A bunch of the weapons don't have multi hit and it's nearly killed me several times. That and finding a boarded up house and most of the weapons are filled with scrap weapon drops instead of the usual good stuff. Not sure if it happens in Vanilla but besides the microwave hammer, you can find zombies impaled by scrap sledge hammers which is OP
