My parents built a Jim Walters home in the late 80s when I was in high school (Kansas). They bought the kit from them and then if I remember correctly had about 50% built out, framing, roofing, plumbing. My dad did everything else, but all of the materials came from the kit. I never built an actual house from a kit.
