I think it's mostly personally preference but for me, I'd prefer the FPS advantage of the 3.7" barrel and the slightly longer sight radius of the XL slide over the slight amount of recoil reduction offered by the M-Macro's comped slide and 3.1" barrel.I have swapped complete slide assemblies (slide, barrel, and RSA) between my XL and X-Macro (now the comp) and both exchanges function flawlessly.
