Bg3 slow loading.
Discussion. Got a Gen4 NVME here. Most of my games load instantly. BG3 however, my initial load into the game is like 45s to 1 minute. My re-loads are like 20-30s. This is extremely long in 2023, when most games have under 3s load times. It's also extremely bad in a game where you're expected to abuse quicksave.

Saw an article recommending increasing RAM so I doubled my PC's 8GB RAM to 16GB and it launches and loads decently quickly now. I just clocked it at 1:40 to fully launch starting from DX11 from Larian Launcher. Re-loading saved games takes about a minute. Seems to be a launcher issue. Tried renaming the folder in appdata so the game made a new folder from steam cloud. Didn't change a thing. Firewall and anti-virus are all allowing the game. I am wondering if it is something with my computer or systemic to BG3 atm. It takes an annoying amount of time to load back to a save game. And then once the save is actually loaded it takes forever for the world to re-render itself. Is anyone else having this problem or had this problem. Please let me know how save loads are for you. Zipped around Baldur’s Gate no issue, same as PC version. -going to camp, ending the day, waking up, leaving is similar to PC, maybe like a second slower. - loading between smaller zones (going into buildings, basements, tombs, etc) is very similar to PC. Patch 4 - Graphic Bug. Since Patch 4 the game Graphic dont work anymore. Looks like most of the assets dont load including transparency settings of some assets like fog or similar. I play BG3 on PC and my GPU is a Radeon RX 5700 XT. Before the patch, the game worked without graphic errors. My graphics driver is up to date.

So I stopped the download, erased the contesnts of the BG3 directory then tried again. It went trhough the Dog `n Pony Show of verifying the (deleted files) then immediately hung at 92% immediately. I've tested on both SSD (NVME Gen4) and a 7200RPM HDD (toshiba gaming performance) and my average loading is: NVME Gen4 SSD: 14-15 seconds. 7200RPM HDD: 17-19 seconds. So it's about 24% longer for me on HDD vs SSD. I enabled the slow HDD mode and have a very strong computer with plenty of VRAM/RAM tho.
