As someone that is also new, I got -0.5 karma deep before I realized I wasn't supposed to shoot everything that moves as a scav. I see scav runs as pacifist loot runs, most of the people you see will be Ai scavs or player scavs. So the world is friendly for the most part. I only do scav runs when I see these kinds of threads and I go in for the express purpose of killing other scavs. If anything, I would be happy to see a higher penalty because that would indicate I killed a scav karma enthusiast.
