We've cruised to St. Lucia before and decided to avoid the cabs and pressure by walking to Vigi beach, across the runway from the cruise terminal. The walk was relatively short (~1.5m) on sidewalk through a relatively busy section of road. Never felt exposed or uncomfortable as tourists. The beach is a 40 minute stroll or $5 pp, 5 minute taxi ride from the port area of Castries. Great beach, quiet most of the time, although busy with locals at the weekend.
