DMGS is a great heavy weapon compliment to a dex/int build because it doesn't benefit from extra strength to the same value other large swords do. You can offhand a faster weapon and cast spells faster with high dex. Some enemies have rediculous poise. Some I think have infinite. But in general yes, it will stagger much more than curved swords. In pvp greatsword should flinch anyone below 100 poise I believe. Greatswords inherently have more poise dmg than Curved Swords due to being a size up.
