Aug 31, 2018 · Here's my attempt at a diagram that illustrates the battery connections for the 3.6L ESS dual batteries. Hopefully this will help make sense of why things work the way they do. I tried to show that when you pull the battery terminals off of the battery, there is still an electrical connection between the cables attached to the battery terminal. There are a few methods to delete the aux battery. My plan is to remove the aux battery the connect it's pos terminal to the main and just tape up the aux's negative terminal. One has to figure what it takes to keep a COLD battery topped off (it takes a lot more than a basic charger when it's COLD) - you need over 14 volts and figure a small BatteryMinder at 1.5 amps to get the wattage needed, and the time needed. My Jeep runs 14.8-15.0 volts when it's cold to get the batteries charged or topped off.
