for your information, Uchigatana does scale with DEX so making it lightning only adds the lightning damage. SO you would hit with normal damage and lightning damage. SO more DEX Would increase normal damage and also raising lighting to +2 and so on would raise the elemental damage. 2 diffrenet categories.

Unless you're an archer, and need good arrows, the only thing of value that merchant sells is cheap arrows, and a key that opens a door to a pyro trainer. If you really want the Uchi, my advice would be stocking upb on arrows (999 is good), buying the key, and killing him off.
