Posted March 18, 2012 (edited) Just weighed my weapons on a certified scale. Bushmaster M4 with quad rail, red dot sight and loaded 30 rnd mag= 9.13lbs. Saiga IZH-108 with quad rail, red dot sight and loaded 12 rnd drum= 13.27lbs. Short barrel and no accessories would be the lightest. To do it right, you'll need; 1- a wood set (of course), 2- a lower handguard retainer (You can mod an AK one, or buy Dinzag's) 3- an AK RSB. 4 an AK gas tube (to cannibalize the upper retainers off of) 5 the ability to weld (Tig's best, but gas, MIG or ARC work too) & correctly finish steel.
