I have a 1998 xplorer 300 which has been discharging the battery. Taking some readings here is what i have noticed. When it is first started, the voltage reads mid 12-13 volts at idle and 13-14 volts at 3000-4000 rpms. When it warms up, it still has 13-14 volts at 3000-4000 rpms, but at idle it drops below 12 ...I recently received 2 Polaris Xplorer 300's with very low compression. One a 96 the other a 98. I tore the 98 apart and replaced the crank seals and did a top end. I also bench tested the oil pump and it worked fine. After reassembly I filled it with premix and it started and ran fine.

The problem more than likely will be the shift linkage. It can be adjusted. It has to be set just right. The rod end at the shifter will be left hand thread. Disconnect the rods from the shifter. I think it is hung up in 2 gears low and reverse. The long rod that connects to the rear bell crank is for HI and Reverse.Sort by | Relevance. exact fit. I put an override switch on fan to bring on fan manually, how ever I am having a hard time finding the switch. Fist thing I noticed is the electric start did not work,I found the power wire broken at the starter, new terminal fixed that.
