A few things to think about for 2.5" shell loading if this machine HAD been used for 3" shells: These "instructions" for converting from the two length .410 shells comes from the old MEC paperwork for early model 600JR and Versamec 700. To start, bolt in bottom hole in base, bottom hole in column.JMHO but I would not lump the adjustable charge bar and the Spindex kit together as "upgrades." The Spindex is designed and produced by Mec. I can't conceive of anyone that had the newer design wishing to go back to the old. I scored a new old stock (Original box and paperwork) primer feeder assembly. Hand operated tube fed unit for the Mec 600 Jr and Versamec 700. This is a rare item.. Judging by the price on the paperwork this is likely 1960's vintage stuff. I recently found a used Mec 600 Jr with one of these too.
2 1/2" SHELLS ON A MEC 600 JR. Hello everyone. I just picked up an old side by side that has a 2 5/8" chambers. I have been trimming some Remington Gun Club hulls down to length and loading them on a 600 but I will eventually be switching to the 2.5" shells either by trimming them with a tool or buying the hulls new from an on-line source.Die set for MEC 600 JR OLD STYLE presses only.

Mec 600 Jr - Resizing problem 28 gauge. I bought a brand new Mec 600 in 28 gauge. The resizing function scratches the heck out of the brass. It scraped off shards of brass and left a lot of brass dust. I called Mec and they sent out a new resizing ring. It does not shave off shards, but it still leaves a bunch or brass dust and the brass looks ...on page 2. As an example ONLY, IF you wanted 14 grains of Alliant Unique, you would be pointed to bushing numbers 20 or 21 by looking in the table. #20 will drop close to 13.7 grains. #21 will drop close to 14.5 grains. SOMETIMES. From this recommendation by MEC, buy powder bushings 19, 20, 21, and maybe 22.I just received a 35 year old MEC 600 Jr for free from a relative. Once you determine the powder to use, you can use the MEC Bushing Chart to decide what Bushing will drop the amount of powder closest to the exact volume you need. I've loaded the Lee 1 oz Slug, but with Remington STS/ NITRO hulls, and Hodgdon HS-6 in. 36 grains. The bushing was #30 for a drop of 35 grains of HS-6. /.

Some here will argue that you shouldn't use the rubber grommet on the shot side, but it's my belief that you should, and so I do. If you use the red baffle, you use no washer or grommet on the powder side. If this is the tube style I think it is, it is a very early style feeder for a MEC 650. Who did you buy it from?? If they had it as a feeder for a 600 jr. you should be able to return it to them because of miss labeling.
