I shot the Lift 33 and my Phase 4 33 back to back with two different arrows, at 70 pounds, the Lift was 6-7 fps faster with both arrows over the new Garmin chrono (super bad ass btw). The mass weight difference was surprising, and the Lift seemed a bit less top heavy than the Phase 4. Very nice bow. phatkaw.

To be fair the pull weight was 70 on the vtm and longer draw vs phase 4 at 65 lbs, but still. The draw cycle of the phase 4 was awesome, smooth and pulled easy for the weight.162. Just finish shooting the Vertix, RX3 and prime CT5. The Vertix is a great shooting bow it's noticeable heavier than the Hoyt but the quietest of the three. Grip. As far as grips go, the Mathews Z3 has a rubber grip while the Hoyt Powermax has a molded plastic one. Even so that both of these are mid-level compound bows, a rubber grip speaks more about the quality of the bow. It would have been a nice touch if the Powermax had stock rubber grips.

While this isn't a big factor I like the looks of the Hoyt bows better than Mathews. I get a clean pass-through everytime. I found it used at a dealer and got a really good deal at $500 with brand new limbs. Hoyt, Mathews, and Bowtech all make quality product, so find a good deal on Craigslist and go.

The 80% mods will be "jumpier" due to a narrower valley. If your draw length is spot on this will be less noticeable. I switched from 85% to 80 because the western state I hunt each year is 80% max lefoff.
